The goal of Ardonagh Italia, and the Group as a whole, is to acquire and consolidate multiple Italian insurance distribution platforms, creating a new leading force in the national market. Role Purpose
The Technical Accounting Specialist will play a key role within the finance function of Ardonagh Italia, reporting to the Accounting & Finance Manager, with specific responsibility for the technical (insurance brokerage) accounting cycle across the Group’s brokerage companies. The role focuses on the correct accounting of premiums and commissions, the reconciliation of accounts with insurers and other intermediaries, the management of segregated client-money accounts under Article 117 of the Italian Insurance Code (CAP), and the harmonisation of technical accounting processes across newly acquired entities. Working at the intersection of the brokerage operating systems and the general ledger, the role ensures that technical balances are accurate, reconciled and compliant with IVASS regulation, local GAAP (OIC) and Group IFRS reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Premium & Commission Accounting: manage the technical accounting cycle for insurance and reinsurance brokerage business — recording of premiums, commissions and fees, matching of debit/credit notes, and correct alLocalità between insurers, clients and the brokerage
- Insurer & Intermediary Reconciliations: prepare and reconcile statements of account (bordereaux) with insurers, coinsurers and other intermediaries, investigating and clearing ageing items and unallocated cash.
- Client Money (Art. 117 CAP): oversee the accounting and reconciliation of segregated client-money accounts, ensuring the separation of fiduciary funds and compliance with IVASS requirements on the handling of premiums collected on behalf of insurers and clients
- Cash AlLocalità & Credit Control: monitor collections and settlements, ensure timely alLocalità of incoming and outgoing flows, and support credit control on outstanding premium and commission balances
- GL Integration & Month-End: ensure the correct interface between the brokerage management systems and the general ledger, reconcile technical sub-ledgers to the GL, and support the month-end close with the related accruals and adjustments (IFRS and OIC)
- Entity Onboarding: support the technical-accounting onboarding of newly acquired brokers, mapping their technical flows and aligning processes and controls with Group policies
- Controls & Compliance: contribute to the design and testing of internal controls over the technical accounting cycle, and support internal and external audit as well as IVASS reporting requirements
- Projects & Ad-Hoc Support: assist with finance and system-integration projects and other tasks as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s Degree in Economics, Finance or equivalent
- 5–7 years of experience in technical (insurance brokerage) accounting, gained within an insurance broker, an insurance/reinsurance Azienda or an MGA
- Solid understanding of the technical accounting cycle of insurance brokerage — premiums, commissions, statements of account and client-money management;
- Working knowledge of the regulatory framework applicable to insurance intermediaries, including Art. 117 CAP and IVASS requirements on client money;
- Good knowledge of OIC; familiarity with IFRS is a plus
- Advanced Excel skills; confidence working with brokerage management systems
- Fluent in Italian and English (written and spoken)
- Strong analytical and reconciliation skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective working relationships across teams and newly acquired entities
- Experience with D365 and/or Tagetik is a plus (not mandatory)
- Previous experience in a Big4 firm or in a multi-entity / M&A environment is a plus (not mandatory)
