Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity

We are looking for Occupational Therapists at Te Whetu Tawera (TWT) the 58-bed acute inpatient mental health unit at Auckland City Hospital. We are located next to the beautiful Auckland City Domain, close to the scenic harbour and the City Centre, with access to public transport including bus and trains.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Occupational Therapist with Mental Health experience, to join a small dedicated team of therapists and be an important core member of the multidisciplinary team. Working alongside a range of people including kaiatawahi, consumer leaders, whanau/families, volunteers, health professionals and NGO staff this role is enriched by diverse perspectives coming together.

Occupational Therapy is important and highly valued in this setting to facilitate Tangata Whaiora occupational performance and participation to prepare for community living. You will be able to use and develop your professional skills in assessment, goal setting and collaborative planning. Occupational Therapists offer a range of individual and group interventions and fulfil a vital role in ensuring the Recovery Programme provides meaningful experiences that contribute to positive outcomes.

Te Toka Tumai Auckland has a commitment to professional development in line with service requirements and will support clinical supervision needs. We welcome applications from Occupational Therapists, who are registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of New Zealand and who have a current APC. At least one-year previous mental health experience is preferred.

This is a challenging area of work requiring a proactive and enthstic person who has excellent interpersonal skills. The role also requires a commitment to teamwork, good organisational and time management skills.
