We are seeking a talented and motivated postgraduate student to help develop a software application with the following core functionality:
Image Upload Functionality - Allow users to upload images of physical items, each with a visible reference code (e.g., a fiducial marker) to assist in accurate size and scale determination.
Smartphone Integration - Enable users to capture and upload photos directly from their smartphones into the system.
The application should be able to:
Accurately calculate the dimensions of the item using the image and reference code.
Generate a wireframe or shape reference of the item, ideally identifying irregular or non-box-like shapes for packaging optimisation.
Development Requirements:
The program can be developed in any language, provided the final output is saved to a Microsoft SQL Server (MS SQL) database.
The use of AI or machine learning to enhance accuracy and shape detection would be considered a strong advantage.
This tool will form part of a larger intelligent packing and logistics solution, so clean, scalable, and well-documented code is essential.
