Duties and responsibilities of Nursing Assistant

• Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Help patients with mobility, including repositioning bedridden patients to prevent bedsores and assisting with walking.
• Feed patients who cannot feed themselves and monitor food and liquid intake.
• Measure and record vital signs like blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rate.
• Report any changes in patient conditions to nurses or doctors.
• Ensure patients are clean and comfortable by changing bed linens, helping with bathroom needs, and assisting with oral hygiene.
• Help patients with exercises or range-of-motion activities as instructed by the healthcare team.
• Maintain a clean and safe environment by sanitizing equipment and ensuring rooms are tidy.
• Adhere to hospital infection control protocols, including proper handwashing and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Observe changes in patients physical or emotional condition and report them to the nursing staff.
• Keep track of any complaints or concerns patients express and communicate them to the healthcare team.
• Record patient care activities, such as changes in vital signs or intake/output, in medical records.
• Ensure all documentation is accurate and completed promptly.
• Assist nurses and doctors with medical procedures, such as preparing the patient or providing supplies.
• Transport patients to other departments, such as radiology or surgery, as needed.
• Provide emotional support to patients and their families, especially in difficult times.
• Build rapport with patients to make their hospital stay more comfortable and less stressful.
• Help with the setup and use of medical equipment like wheelchairs, IV poles, and oxygen machines.
• Clean and maintain medical equipment used for patient care.
• Safely transport patients to various areas within the hospital, such as radiology, physical therapy, or operating rooms.
• Assist with moving patients in and out of beds, wheelchairs, and stretchers.
